Crunchy Mum, Spooky Season My Healthy Halloween Snacks

I genuinely love the autumn holidays. Halloween is one of my favourite times of year, and I've had so much fun putting together easy, healthy, aesthetic snacks that still feel festive and fun. Here's what's on my table this year and everything I used to make them.

Healthy Halloween Snack Board

One of my favourite things to make when I want something sweet is my homemade date caramel sauce. It’s naturally sweetened with Medjool dates, incredibly simple to make, and I keep a batch in the fridge for dipping fruit, drizzling over yoghurt or porridge, and adding to baking.

Halloween Fruit Skewers

Choose your favourite fruits and cut them into fun Halloween shapes little pumpkins, ghosts or whatever you fancy. Thread them onto skewers, add edible eyes or a little icing if you like, and have fun with it. They don’t need to be perfect just colourful, festive and delicious!

Healthy Halloween Monster Apple Bites

Slice the apples into thick wedges, spread a little peanut butter between two pieces, then add slivered almonds to create the “teeth.” Finish with two small edible eyes on top and serve straight away, or brush the apple lightly with lemon juice first to help prevent browning.

Easy Banana Ghosts

Simply peel and cut your bananas, then have fun creating little ghost faces with your favourite toppings. I used chocolate chips for the eyes and mouths, but you could use whatever you have at home. There’s no need for them to be perfect that’s part of the fun!

Peanut Butter Halloween Snacks

Drizzle your peanut butter over any way you like, messy is absolutely fine! If your peanut butter is a little too thick, warm it slightly or mix in a tiny splash of maple syrup to make it easier to drizzle. Then decorate, serve and enjoy.

Why I keep refined sugar lower where I can

A few years ago, I started cutting back on refined sugar as part of a wider focus on feeling well, eating more whole foods and supporting my long term health.

One of the biggest things I noticed was how much my taste changed. Fruit, dates and naturally sweet foods started tasting so much sweeter and more satisfying, and I found I didn’t miss heavily sweetened foods as much as I expected.

I also know that when I have more refined sugar, I tend to want more of it later in the day and I don’t always love how I feel afterwards. So for me, keeping it lower where I can isn’t about being restrictive. It’s just one of those small habits that helps me feel more balanced.

My go to for parties and get togethers

Whenever I'm heading to a Halloween party or holiday gathering, I like to bring something prepared with me a healthy snack or treat I've made myself that I genuinely enjoy. It means I get to join in fully, eat something delicious, and never feel like I'm missing.

This Halloween, I hope you get to enjoy every bit of the season the fun, the aesthetic, the get togethers while still feeling good in your body along the way.
